Cold File Report covers cases the system failed — unsolved homicides, wrongful convictions, missing persons, and the quiet patterns of institutional failure that let injustice repeat itself.
The Mission
Every year, tens of thousands of violent crimes go unsolved. Innocent people sit in prisons while the actual perpetrators remain free. Systemic failures compound because no one follows up.
We follow up. Every file here is an attempt to keep a case from disappearing entirely from the public record.
Editorial Standards
Our reporting works from public records, court filings, peer-reviewed research, and primary journalism. Every factual claim is traceable to a source.
Presumption of innocence. Anyone not convicted of a crime is presumed innocent. We distinguish carefully between suspects, persons of interest, and convicted individuals.
Corrections. If we get something wrong, we correct it openly and date-stamp the change. Corrections are visible, not buried.
Tips. If you have information about any case we've covered — or one we should — reach out.
